Vor etwas weniger als einem Jahr machte Mike Skinner, der Mann hinter The Streets, auf sich aufmerksam, als er nach und nach neue Songs via Twitter veröffentlichte. Mitte Mai war so ein Album entstanden, das 11 Songs plus Intro umfasste. Dananch ist es ruhig um Mike Skinner geworden. Der letzte Blog-Eintrag bei MySpace wurde im Mai verfasst, im Oktober der letzte Tweet. Auf der Homepage steht noch im September zu lesen: “rocking out with rob harvey from the music on some vocals for my albumen”.
Jetzt verdichten sich die Zeichen, das in naher Zukunft ein Album mit dem Titel “Computers And Blues” veröffentlicht wird. Skinner selber kündigte ja schon vor langer Zeit an, das nach einem fünften Album Schluß sei. Jetzt kann man unter der URL computersandblues.com Folgendes lesen:

It now sounds ravey. It is a ravey album album that bludgeons you over the head with its stick of 1988 Romford, Blackpool and Philadelphia rock. It is an insane album.
Vor Kurzem ist ein Album der Streets mit dem Titel “Computers And Blues” geleakt. Ob es sich bei diesem wirklich um das fünfte Werk handelt, ist zumindest zweifelhaft. Was auffällt: alle Songs der Twitter-Phase sind enthalten, es gibt nur 3 unbekannte Tracks: “Infamy”, “The Robots Are Taking Over”, “In The Middle”. Und so richtig will die obige Beschreibung nicht zu diesen Songs passen. Aber wer weiß das schon?

Ich habe ja versprochen, hier auf alle Songs hinzuweisen, die Mike Skinner aka The Streets via Twitter veröffentlicht. Das habe ich fast geschafft, aber ein paar sind mir doch durch die Lappen gegangen. Aber zum Glück hat man sich drüben bei Schakkerhart die Mühe gemacht, alle Songs in eine RAR-Datei zu packen. Das ergibt ein komplettes neues Album der Streets.

Mike Skinner aka The Streets hat angekündigt, ab heute jeweils einen Song pro Tag aufzunehmen und diese drei neuen Tracks dann zum kostenlosen Download anzubieten, und zwar via Twitter.
