2007 war es unter den Musikmajors in Mode, DRM (zumindest teilweise) zu Grabe zu tragen. So wie es aussieht, ist 2008 die Musikflatrate angesagt, denn nachdem Sony BMG vor ein paar Tagen eine Flatrate in Aussicht stellte, folgt nun mit Warner Music bereits der nächste Major. Um diese Flatrate zu realisieren, wurde Technologie-Berater Jim Griffin eingestellt, der mit Portfolio.com über die Pläne des Majors sprach.
“Warner’s plan would have consumers pay an additional fee—maybe $5 a month—bundled into their monthly internet-access bill in exchange for the right to freely download, upload, copy, and share music without restrictions.[…] We hope all of the rights holders will come in and take ownership with us, and Warner will not control it. Our goal is to create a collective society for the digital age.”
Das klingt sehr interessant, und ich bin gespannt, was genau da geplant wird.
