  • Pavement-Doku Slow Century Online
    Sicher nicht rein zufällig dass das pünktlich zur heutigen 2CD-Veröffentlichung der Brighten The Corners: Nicene Creedence Edition passiert: Lance Bangs’ Dokumentation The Slow Century: History Lesson 1989-1999 über die Geschichte der besten Band aller Zeiten von Pavement gibt es von heute an für eine Woche online auf Pitchfork.tv zu sehen. Der Film ist übrigens auch auf DVD erhältlich, zusammen mit den gesammelten Musikvideos der Band.
  • MTV streicht Stellen
    Die von Viacom angekündigte Entlassung von 850 Mitarbeitern betrifft auch den Sender MTV. Laut dem Branchenmagazin "Billboard" gingen an die MTV-Abteilungsleiter bereits detaillierte Informationen über Stellenabbau und Restrukturierungsmaßnahmen. In einer internen Memo an die Mitarbeiter hat Judy McGrath, Chairman und CEO von MTV Networks, bereits erste Andeutungen gemacht: Demzufolge will man bei MTV Gruppen zusammenführen, Aufgabenbereiche zentralisieren und vermehrt Outsourcing betreiben.
  • Qtrax Signs Third Major Label Deal – with Sony
    The ambitious ad-supported music service Qtrax has announced a deal with its second major label: Sony. As part of the deal, Qtrax will offer Sony's digital music catalog for free to those who install its music downloading client. As with Qtrax's deals with EMI and Universal, Sony only agreed to license its regular digital music catalog, consisting of the same music it has already licensed to digital music stores like iTunes and free, ad-supported sources such as imeem and SpiralFrog.

    The Grammy nominations are in and it is lovely to see so many women in the running for awards; dominating the categories for Record of the Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Electronic/Dance Album, Best Contemporary R&B Performance and several others.
