Hookworms aus Leeds veröffentlichen am 2. Februar ihr drittes Album Microshift. Nach Veröffentlichung von The Hum im Jahr 2014 zogen sich dunkle Wolken über der Band zusammen. Da war zum einen die Flutkatastrophe, die ihr gesamtes Studio zerstörte.
Es folgten zerbrochene Liebesbeziehungen, familiäre Krankheitsfälle sowie der plötzliche Tod eines engen Freundes der Band. Verlusterfahrungen bestimmten die letzten Jahre. Da scheint die neue Single Static Resistance fast wie eine Voraussagung der Dinge, wenn die Band über den Song sagt:
Static Resistance is the oldest track on the album, we wrote and recorded the first version of it early 2015, not very long after The Hum had been released. It’s one of only two pre-flood songs on the record. It’s a song about the wax and wane of depression and an eternal want to escape the life you’ve built.
