STACEY ist eine junge Songwriterin aus Toronto in Kanada. Sie hat sich mit Build Me Up (Buttercup) einen Klassiker der Sechziger vorgenommen. Ich weiß nicht, wie oft ich diesen Song damals in der Küche meiner Eltern auf NDR2 gehört habe.
Auf jeden Fall erschafft STACEY hier eine ganz eigene Atmosphäre. Schon fast magisch. Das sagt die Musikerin über ihre Songauswahl:
“I love a lot of music from the 60s and Build Me Up (Buttercup) is an obvious classic from that era. The transformation that the song took really caught me off guard… the original lyrics and chord structure exist as such a stark dichotomy. It’s the song everyone gets up to dance and sing along to in celebration, even (ironically) at weddings. I had never considered it from this perspective before.” (via)
