Ja, ganz richtig. Nachdem sich Mark Oliver Everett für das letztjährige Album “Hombre Lobo” vier Jahre Zeit ließ, veröffentlichte er knapp ein halbes Jahr später mit “End Times” schon den Nachfolger. Jetzt ist bald wieder ein halbes Jahr rum, und ratet mal? Richtig, es gibt wieder ein neues Album. Es wird “Tomorrow Morning” heißen und am 20. August erscheinen.
The final installment of a trilogy that started with 2009’s HOMBRE LOBO and 2010’s END TIMES (released a half year from each other), TOMORROW MORNING finishes the story on a high note. Following a four year gap between EELS studio albums, HOMBRE LOBO dealt with what Everett called “The before. The hunger that starts everything.” Conversely, END TIMES tackled what he called “The after, and how you deal with the aftermath.” TOMORROW MORNING is “the redemption,” he says. “A new beginning and another chance. The blooming of all new possibilities. The hope that was always there coming to fruition.”
Der Abschluss einer Trilogie also. Dabei soll das neue Album nach dem eher rockigen Garagensound von “Hombre Lobo” und der akustischen Reduziertheit von “End Times” in eine neue Richtung weisen. Keyboards, Drum-Maschinen, Loops und Sounds.
“It’s a very electronic album — sounds normally associated with a kind of ‘colder’ music,” says Everett, “but I wanted to make a warm album that was a celebration using electronic instruments to reflect joy in the times I live in.”
Ich bin verdammt gespannt, und sobald es erste Hörproben von “Tomorrow Morning” gibt, werde ich die hier natürlich vorstellen. Bis dahin nochmal mein absoluter Lieblingssong.
