EMI: weiterer Stellenabbau (Nachtrag: doch nicht?)

Ich hatte bei der Übernahme EMIs durch einen Finanzinvestor kein gutes Gefühl. Denn denen geht es meistens um Profitmaximierung, Renditeziele, Senkung der Fixkosten. Das klingt alles nicht schön. Und so verkündete der neue EMI-Chef Guy Hands auch schon bald die Streichung von bis zu 2000 Stellen weltweit an. An sich schon schlimm genug, handelt es sich doch um rund ein Drittel der Mitarbeiter. Vielleicht hätten diese Einsparungen ja wirklich zu einem schlankeren und flexibleren Musikkonzern geführt, wer weiß.

Das man jetzt allerdings weitere 1000 Stellen abbauen will, das sieht mir doch eher so aus, als würde die tradiotionsreiche EMI in naher Zukunft ausbluten. Oder um es mit den Worten von Glenn (Coolfer) zu sagen: “Cut just enough and EMI should be able to properly develop its artists. Cut too much and it will be undermanned and unable to realize its artists’ potential.”

Nachtrag: EMI selber läßt verlauten, das es sich bei dem Bericht des Telegraph um eine Fehlinformation halte. “There are no additional redundancies to those already announced in January,” says an EMI spokesperson. “The restructuring is on plan and the new organization will be fully up and running by the end of June.” (Billboard)
